the world seems to have changed so rapidly and so have my business plans I'm the sort of person that really gets sucked into a vortex of obsessive compulsive proportions every time a break through profitable notion reveals itself in the form of a new business idea.
This time i would like to talk about my jewellery designer friend who has single handedly built a small empire with a gross turnover that would not ashamed some medium sized branded companies.
it's quite magnificent to really watch how the artists loving hands swirl gold strings to take shape and form a sturdy concubine that holds a crystal perhaps a pearl in such an inviting way that a necklace is born.
When i first saw the reactions generated by his handmade jewellery i was quite astonished to be honest...flocks upon herds of women with wide eyes and wet lips gasping in owe as they strategically position themselves between the other girls for that Swarovski crystal necklace over there.
For the last 5 years My friends has been making an honest and comfortable living from his own handmade jewellery creations. He buys raw materials such as 9ct gold, silver, semi precious stones, crystals and pearls.
There is even a website now www.9ctgoldnecklace.co.uk
Online sales is a very competitive area especially when it comes to Jewellery. Gold is one of the most stable currencies, During the last economic crises gold prices have almost reached 1000$ this is because of gold's ability to retain its value even in great depressions.
I have been researching the subject recently and have discovered that jewellery is one of the most competitive terms in the world! Some keywords on Google will loads up a staggering mind-blowing 33,000,000 results! This is a ridiculous amount of information for any human to go through quite honestly i have no intention of doing so myself! But why are there so many jewellery websites? are they all making money? are they all floating somewhere out there in cyber space with blinging ice gourmets trying to make a sale? I really don't know..
Back to Gold, Gold can come in many colors (White, Red, Rose and yellow) the color is normally affected by the mixture of metals used. There are also many Ct or Karat types of Gold - Ranging from 7.5K up to 24K 24K is the purest form of gold which is in its most pure form Liquid! Most Jewellery makers today use 14K-18K Gold or 9K which is very popular in handmade jewellery in the United Kingdom today.
9ct gold is a metal that has only 37.50% real gold within it but its quite durable and does not blacken or corrode over time. My designer friends loves to work with this material much because of its low cost that allows him to experiment greatly in the pursuit of new handmade necklaces and gold rings.
There are many tools used in the creations of a gold necklace or gold ring but the most important tool in my opinion is imagination. The Selection and available options are endless when it comes to jewellery design just about every combination is possible and available.
in conclusion,
There is much to know about the subject of handmade jewellery and jewellery design in general i hope to write some about this in the future but for now i can only say that life is short and one must aim high.
